In the nick of time || Jonas' Lifestyle Newborn Session - Downtown Toronto

Master Jonas was my last indoor newborn session and he arrived in the nick of time. Obviously none of us had a crystal ball to see quite how crazy things were going to pan out and had he delayed his arrival we would never have been able to capture these precious photos.

Isn't it so weird to realize how special something is in hindsight? I never knew whilst taking this session that it would be my last indoor session for the foreseeable future. I guess I’m glad I didn’t know it at the time but it does make it a rather special shoot now looking back.

Fast forward a week and I had to cancel all newborn sessions completely. My heart breaks for all of those new moms and expectant moms who are having to miss out on so many treasured moments of pregnancy and motherhood. I did manage to squeeze in one last newborn session prior to the lockdown, I’ll share that next week. For now I’ll let you enjoy some of my favourite shots from Jonas’ photo shoot.

Jonas’ photo shoot was in downtown Toronto and I wasn’t sure how to gage the traffic. Usually I’m up at 5:30am to leave by 6am for Toronto shoots. The lockdown and social distancing were not yet in effect but the schools were about to close and a lot of people were already working from home.

Once I got close to their apartment to find parking the roads were slammed with parked cars. Usually I find a lot of empty spaces as everyones left for work already. Then the long walk to their apartment seemed eerily quiet and sparse. Maybe it’s in my head because I knew something was coming, we all did.

Jonas’ parents were the sweetest and I LOVED their German accents which meant the pronunciation of his name was even more beautiful. Whenever I meet couples who are like us, immigrants, whether it be temporary or permanent, I always get an extra heart tug. I know what it’s like to not have your family around you like a village to raise your little one, to not have the grandparents on speed dial for a date night or to watch the kids so you can sit on the shower floor for 20 minutes guilt free.

So who knows when my newborn session wil lbe back up in business, very soon I hope. Until then I’ll keep sharing from past sessions and my current COVID life lol. Don’t forget to follow along on my IG for all the latest and greatest.

And if you’re a new or expectant momma, just know that my heart hurts for all you are missing but at least this time will pass and you will have a healthy mom and baby to enjoy.
