Why 'Lifestyle' Newborn Photography is the new trend || CopperRed Photography
There's a new kid on the block and its taking the baby photography world by storm.
Lifestyle Newborn Photography Sessions
So what is this craze and why is it beginning to dominate, at least in my world. Grab a cuppa tea and let me tell you all about this magical approach to capturing your new arrival.
For the longest time posed newborn photography was the session of choice for capturing those precious photos of your new arrival. We curl them up into super cute poses, adorn them with the most beautiful props and then photoshop them to perfection. The end product is fine art photography for sure, it is truly beautiful.
In recent times there has been a general shift away from the 'perfect' and more towards the 'real'. This has been true in my experience across the board from the weddings I capture to family shoots and new babies. Families and couples now want to document their lives in a more authentic and organic way.
Lifestyle newborn sessions give you exactly that. They incorporate not only your little one but much more of the entire family and the home they are growing up in. Instead of looking for picture perfect, these sessions look to capture more of a connection and tell a story within the gallery.
There is definitely something so very special about documenting a family's love in their own home. Being in their own surroundings brings that magical comfort level, enabling the photographer to capture genuine moments.
Another huge perk of the Lifestyle Newborn Session is the time it takes. My lifestyle sessions last between and 1-1.5 hours. In comparison the posed sessions run around 3.5 hours.
It can also be shot up to a much later age. You will find each newborn photographer has a slightly different timeline but generally speaking (and this is how I do mine) the posed sessions need to be shot between 5 and 15 days old. My lifestyle newborn sessions however can be done anywhere from 5 day to 2 months. This often works well for the families who contact me a little late, when their little one is already 3+ weeks old.
When I shoot lifestyle newborn sessions I love to document the other details, the ones that represent how much love and attention went into preparing for this new baby to arrive. This is part of the story telling approach.
So if you have a new baby on the way in 2018 I would love to come and capture those early moments for you. You need to prepare nothing at all, I simply bring my camera and we relax and have a lovely morning together, normally chatting all things baby and pregnancy as we shoot lol.
No wonder this stress free, authentic documentation of babies is taking the newborn baby photography world by storm. It is beautifully simple.
