Today I’m in downtown Toronto capturing my first newborn of 2020 and I am SO ridiculously excited. It’s been a few weeks since my last newborn session and I’m dying to get back to cuddling and capturing these precious babes. I am so excited that I wanted to share some photos from one of my favourite sessions from 2019 with you whilst I explain the in's and outs of when the ideal time to book up your lifestyle newborn session is.
So you’re pregnant, congrats! I remember finding out with each one of my babies that they were in there and it’s the most crazy surreal experience every single time. Even though we planned to be pregnant with the last two it was still mind blowing to see the test turn positive.
Now the surprise of the baby bean growing in your belly has passed and you’re starting to get practical with what you need to get prepped before your little one makes their appearance earth side. As you’re going through all the things what pops up but Newborn Photography. Maybe you’ve got a girlfriend or co worker who recommended me, maybe you searched google and found my site or were trolling IG and stumbled across my feed and fell in love. No matter how you came to find me I am SO happy that you did.
One of the most frequently asked questions I get from families is around when they should book up so I thought it a good idea on the early Wednesday morning to put together a quick blog to break it down.
The absolute honest truth…ASAP.
As soon as you know that I’m the photog for your family you should book in. I book as far as 8 months ahead in some cases. Yup, sometimes couples get in touch the same week they find out their pregnant because they just know or have been dreaming about having a newborn session with me before they were even expecting.
You cannot book too early. Because I shoot newborns, families, maternity, engagements and weddings I have to cap the amount of each I can offer in one month. Once that limit is reached I’m sorry but I can’t book you in and that’s devastating. I have to maintain these limits because I set a high standard of experience and want to ensure I meet that for every family I work with.
So if you know, you know and you should pop me a quick email to get it all booked in.
With regards to the timing of the newborn session we book in a tentative date to start with. This is usually around 7-10 days post due date. I say tentative because the delivery of babies is pretty unpredictable so I allow room to move the session if we need to should baby stay tucked up in there for some extra time or come out as an early gift.
Either way fear not, a huge part of the experience I offer you is the ability for us to move that session date accordingly. Even if you give birth and then don’t feel up to the session in just a weeks time we can push it back a bit or maybe you want to bring it forward because you’re seeing just how fast those squishy newborn features are changing and don’t want to miss them. Whatever the situation rest assured I’ve got your back and we can make sure it’s at the very best time for your family.
Keep in mind that when I talk about booking up that’s not a full payment. Stealing your session spot only require a $30 retainer and signed contract. Just $30 to ensure you’ve got your newborn session with me and then you can sit back, tick it off your to-do list and get back to searching pinterest for the perfect coming home outfit for your munchkin.
2020 newborn bookings are limited each month so be sure to book up your session as soon as you’ve fallen in love with my style, vibe and service.
